Tony Wood, Director
From the moment he left school Tony was drawn towards the construction industry initially completing an apprenticeship so he could work as a carpenter and joiner. During his three-year OE, he supplemented his traveling with construction work including the refurbishment of Kings Cross Station and the Channel tunnel project. Upon his return to New Zealand, Tony, and a former traveling companion, started a civil contracting business in Auckland which grew to employ up to 100 staff and make an annual turnover of $30m.
In 2008, he sold his share in the company and bought what is now Natural Insulation.

Tony says: I see my involvement in the insulation industry as a way of doing my bit to improve the health and comfort of Kiwi families. The days of being tough and just putting on more clothes during the winter are over. I’m thrilled to be involved in a company built on natural principles that contributes to reduced health and energy costs, helping in the long run to save our planet and our families. |

Grant Thomas, Director
After spending several years at university studying sciences, Grant realized he preferred working with people rather than microscopes. He was offered a position as a trainee manager with a nationwide construction-supply business and never looked back. Since those early days, Grant has managed well-known building companies, a concrete technology and supply company and set up and managed the largest branch of a nationwide energy-related company. After establishing a national franchise model for another company, Grant realized he liked the idea of having his own business. In 2009, he met Tony and went into partnership with him as co-owner of Natural Insulation.

Grant says: I wanted to move into an industry in which I could make a difference. My experiences made me aware that insulation and energy efficiency have always been the poor cousins in residential construction. When I found out about Natural Insulation and its commitment to energy efficiency, I knew I had to get involved. I’m proud of the company’s commitment to New Zealanders, their health and the health of our planet. |
