For a one year period from 1 July 2011, there is financial assistance available through the Auckland Council to contribute to housing retrofits. This assistance is over and above any ENERGYWISE subsidy.
What are the details of the programme?
The financial assistance is for
insulation and
clean heating. Clean heating is only included if insulation meets requirements. A maximum of $5000 is available (including GST) per rateable property. You can pay back the money borrowed from the council through your property rates over nine years. Retrofit Your Home allows homeowners to pay for additional costs above those covered by other subsidies, such as the
Warm Up New Zealand: Heat Smart subsidy.
Do I qualify for the programme?
To be eligible for assistance you must have a house built prior to 2000 and be a ratepayer in the Auckland council region. You must also be up to date with your rate payments and have a good payment history.
