We own a 1932 bungalow in Central Auckland which has been renovated and extended. The ceiling had been installed with poorly installed fibreglass insulation some 10 years ago which had compacted to about half of its original thickness.

The heat loss from the house was almost as if there was no insulation at all.

We researched the market carefully regarding insulation products available to homeowners and after referencing material overseas and here in New Zealand, we were adamant that we wanted GreenChoice cellulose installed in the ceiling for these reasons:

• It can be sprayed into every corner of the ceiling excluding areas around down lights
• It has natural minerals impregnated into the cellulose to give it vermin and fire-retardant properties
• The bonding agent is simply PVA glue and not formaldehyde.

To my wife and I, the last two aspects were very important. We have young children. The peace of mind knowing that the insulation fire-retardant was huge. In the unlikely event of a fire, this would give us more than twice the time to escape the house.

To top it all off, the process from Natural Insulation giving us a quote through to having GreenChoice installed was seamless. The installers turned up on time and were great to deal with. They cleaned up after themselves.

The result is one cosy house.
